Abstract

Resistance narratives in Urdu literature serve as a powerful vehicle for exploring political and social themes that have shaped the socio-political landscape of Pakistan. These narratives, often expressed through literary forms like short stories, novels, and plays, encapsulate the struggles of individuals and communities against political oppression, social inequality, and cultural hegemony. This paper aims to explore the various ways in which resistance has been depicted in Urdu literature, focusing on the historical context of colonialism, post-colonial challenges, and the sociopolitical issues that continue to shape contemporary Pakistan. Through a detailed examination of key literary works, this article investigates how resistance is constructed in Urdu literature as both a form of personal defiance and collective struggle. The study also considers the role of writers in resisting the socio-political status quo, highlighting their contributions in shaping a national discourse on justice, equality, and freedom.
