Abstract

The contemporary Urdu novel has emerged as a significant literary medium for addressing diverse social realities of the twenty-first century. This study investigates the ways in which modern Urdu novelists depict class divisions, cultural values, and social problems within their narratives. It focuses on the representation of economic disparity, cultural hybridity, gender inequality, political instability, and the clash between tradition and modernity. Through a critical analysis of selected contemporary Urdu novels, the research underscores how fiction serves as both a mirror and a critique of society, articulating the voices of marginalized groups while questioning dominant power structures. Furthermore, the study highlights the role of the Urdu novel in shaping social awareness, fostering dialogue on cultural identity, and contributing to the broader discourse of resistance and reform.
