Abstract

Sufism, with its deep spiritual practices and philosophical teachings, has had a profound impact on Urdu literature. This paper explores the significant influence of Sufi thought on various forms of Urdu literary expressions, including poetry, prose, and drama. Sufism, as a mystical tradition, emphasizes the importance of self-purification, love, and the quest for divine union, which is clearly reflected in the works of Urdu poets and writers. The study examines the works of iconic figures such as Allama Iqbal, Mirza Ghalib, and Faiz Ahmed Faiz, alongside the philosophical underpinnings that Sufism has provided to these literary greats. The paper also discusses the socio-cultural and spiritual implications of Sufi influences in shaping the literary landscape of Urdu, reflecting on how mystical ideologies have transformed the literary world in Pakistan and beyond
