Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of the poetry of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Maulana Shibli Nomani, two towering figures in Urdu literature. Both poets have made significant contributions to the literary landscape of the subcontinent, yet their approaches to poetry, themes, and philosophical perspectives differ in profound ways. Iqbal, regarded as the spiritual father of Pakistan, is known for his philosophical poems that address selfhood, intellectual awakening, and spiritual revival. Hali, on the other hand, is remembered for his social realism and emphasis on moral reform, particularly in the context of Muslim society in India. This study delves into their stylistic differences, thematic focuses, and the socio-political implications of their works. Through a detailed exploration, the article highlights the nuanced views both poets presented on nationhood, spirituality, and the role of the individual in society.
